    Government roles

    In their own words

234 Hansard interventions on file. These are the words said in the House, not a summary. Private conversations are not collected and are not invented.

Mr. Speaker, efforts to deny, distort or minimize the truth about residential schools is deeply harmful and will always be condemned. Denialism is a cruel rejection of well-established facts, and it undermines the truth that is essential to reconciliation with indigenous people.…Oral Questions — Indigenous Affairs · 2026-09-24

    Where they stand

Policy positions are scored only from this member's stored House words and, when it is on file, their own public website. Wikipedia and other encyclopedias may supply details such as a birth date, education or work history, and each of those details is labelled with its source, but they are never used to score a position. Members whose only sources are encyclopedias have no scored positions.

A stored score on 5 of 14 topics. Each row names the end of that topic’s axis the stored words reached, and the sentence the score rests on.

excerpts repeat backing for natural gas plants, pipelines and major energy projects

In the Northwest Territories, where I'm from, M‑18 is a natural gas plant. There are shovels in the ground right now to build M‑18, and that one is really important. In the beginning of January, for anybody who is following, Inuvik almost ran out of gas, and it was -50°C.

In determining which projects proposed by indigenous peoples, provinces and territories are in the national interest, we'll be evaluating based on whether they strengthen Canada's autonomy, resilience and security; provide economic or other benefits to Canadians; have a high likelihood of successful execution; advance the interests of indigenous peoples; and contribute to clean growth and to meeting Canada's objectives with respect to climate change.

excerpts repeat description of budget as investment package with large spending on infrastructure and housing

This is an investment budget. We're building homes. We're building infrastructure. We're protecting our communities. We're empowering the people of Canada. Budget 2025 reflects our commitment to reconciliation, equality and respect.

Supports $2.8 billion in federal funding for indigenous housing strategy and infrastructure to enable more housing.

Budget 2025 confirms $2.8 billion for urban, rural and northern indigenous housing. Alongside my colleague, the Minister of Indigenous Services, we will deliver a cross-government indigenous housing strategy. To promote economic growth and shared prosperity, we're investing in the major projects office.

The other end of this axis: Prevention and restraint

excerpts repeat backing for crime bills, bail reforms and safety programs

There are a number of crime bills, which you mentioned, that relate to making sure that victims are supported and that strengthen bail reforms. I would encourage members to support those laws.
