      In their own words

869 Hansard interventions on file. These are the words said in the House, not a summary. Private conversations are not collected and are not invented.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today on behalf of the seniors in Essex, who, after a lifetime of hard work, paying taxes and supporting both older and younger generations, are now struggling to make ends meet. One senior wrote to me, “With the rising cost of living in all aspects of our eco…Statements by Members — Seniors · 2026-09-23

      Where they stand

Policy positions are scored only from this member's stored House words and, when it is on file, their own public website. Wikipedia and other encyclopedias may supply details such as a birth date, education or work history, and each of those details is labelled with its source, but they are never used to score a position. Members whose only sources are encyclopedias have no scored positions.

A stored score on 6 of 14 topics. Each row names the end of that topic’s axis the stored words reached, and the sentence the score rests on.

      Agriculture

      Defend supply management

The other end of this axis: Liberalize supply management

Criticizes concessions on dairy and calls out selling out the industry.

The Liberals have already sold out the dairy industry. When the new NAFTA is renegotiated in five years, who will they sell out next?

      Climate

      Slower phase-down, production first

The other end of this axis: Faster fossil phase-down

Opposes carbon tax on greenhouse operations as double taxation.

Carbon tax should not be taxed on our HST.” The Liberals have spent the last four years making life harder and more unaffordable for Canadians.

      Energy

      Expand production and export

The other end of this axis: Restrict new oil and gas

Explicitly stands in support of oil and gas sector and Line 5 pipeline.

I stand in support of Canada's oil and gas sector. I stand on behalf of families in my riding of Essex and the many workers in the energy sector across Windsor and Essex, whose jobs are in jeopardy because of Governor Whitmer's intended closure of the Line 5 pipeline.

      Fiscal policy

      Lower taxes and tighter spending

The other end of this axis: Higher taxes and public spending

Criticizes carbon tax and government regulation and tax burden on small business.

What is more, they drown in government regulation and tax. I spoke recently to a gentleman in my riding who was working on his day off.

      Public safety

      Enforcement and sentencing

The other end of this axis: Prevention and restraint

Calls for longer prison sentences and throwing criminals in jail.

Getting serious on crime and giving longer prison sentences is the answer. A buyback program and banning handguns will have absolutely no positive effect to reduce violent crime.

      Trade

      Deeper continental integration

The other end of this axis: Diversify away from one partner

Identifies as the party of free trade and emphasizes US as largest partner.

We support and want free trade with the United States. Canada's prosperity is tied to a vibrant export market.
