    In their own words

4,427 Hansard interventions on file. These are the words said in the House, not a summary. Private conversations are not collected and are not invented.

Mr. Speaker, 15 years ago, a man named Jack Layton won Quebec's heart and led the NDP into official opposition for the first time. I had the privilege of being part of that wave. The people of Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie continued to put their trust in me in four subsequent electi…Statements by Members — Member for Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie · 2026-06-16

    Where they stand

Policy positions are scored only from this member's stored House words and, when it is on file, their own public website. Wikipedia and other encyclopedias may supply details such as a birth date, education or work history, and each of those details is labelled with its source, but they are never used to score a position. Members whose only sources are encyclopedias have no scored positions.

A stored score on 5 of 14 topics. Each row names the end of that topic’s axis the stored words reached, and the sentence the score rests on.

    Agriculture

    Defend supply management

The other end of this axis: Liberalize supply management

The member repeatedly states that the NDP is the greatest defender of supply management and criticizes any deals that open breaches allowing foreign products into the market.

There is no greater defender of dairy farmers and the supply management system than the NDP. However, while the member tells us that it is important to maintain and defend the supply management system, he is the one who is going to head the leadership campaign for the member for Beauce, who has already promised to abolish Canada's supply management system.

    Climate

    Faster fossil phase-down

The other end of this axis: Slower phase-down, production first

The member repeatedly supports carbon pricing, clean energy investments, and caps on oil and gas emissions while criticizing fossil fuel subsidies and industry exemptions.

We have to make a considerable effort to protect our environment, our children, future generations and to create good jobs for the future and sustainable jobs with sustainable energy. The Conservatives are living 50 or 60 years in the past, when we thought there would be no consequences to polluting so much and emitting so much carbon in the atmosphere, but now we know.

    Defence

    Restrain spending and deployments

The other end of this axis: Higher spending and more capability

The member criticizes military ventures without international oversight, supports peace and international institutions, and faults the government for abandoning armed forces personnel on misconduct issues.

This is a break from tradition for the Bloc Québécois, which has always advocated for peace and outright rejected any military ventures, particularly when there is no oversight and no objective. First, I would like my colleague to explain the reason for his party's change in position.

    Foreign affairs

    Alliance restraint

The other end of this axis: Assertive alliances and sanctions

The member calls for inquiries into all foreign interference, criticizes unconditional military actions, and supports sanctions on entities involved in violations of international law.

Does my colleague agree that the mandate should be expanded to include all foreign interference, including that of Iran or Russia, for example?

    Health

    Expand public coverage

The other end of this axis: More private delivery

The member repeatedly supports universal public pharmacare, dental care, and increased health transfers while opposing taxes on medical cannabis.

Our universal public health care system is not perfect. The motion presented today by my party would address one of the problems. At some point, the human body began to be viewed as a puzzle, with some parts being insured and others not.
